How are the Sony MDR-V700 headphones for studio use?A friend who is well versed in audio production told me that they are way too colored for studio use. But I've read reviews saying that even though they slightly overemphasize the bass, they are balanced. What do you guys think? Could you recommend a better set of headphones for studio use? Publ.Date : Wed, 10 Mar 2010 10:20:27 -0800 Would you recommend using a large diaphragm condenser on the floor tom? I'm looking to record a local band in my area in the next couple of weeks or so, and I'm thinking about how I should be miking up the drum kit and also what mics I should be using. I've got one Presonus FP10, so my input space is fairly limited. I'm thinking about using six mics on the kit along with DI'ing a guitar and recording a rough vocal in another room for guide tracks in the two remaining inputs of the FP10 before I overdub these later. I was thinking about using 2 AKG C1000s for overheads, an Audix D6 on the kick, an SM57 on the snare and the hi tom, and a Rode NT1a the floor tom. Ideally I'd want to use an SM57 on the floor tom as well but I've only got two. The room which I'm recording in has high angled ceilings about 20ft high, so it's pretty echoic. Should I use a large diaphragm condenser on the floor tom? Or will this ruin the recorded drum sound because of the characteristics of the room? Or should I put an SM58 on the floor tom instead as it's sort of like the 57? Your answers would be great help!
