LATEST ARTIST FEEDBACK

to Franklin Bruno... "i bought franklin bruno suggestion box back in high school and would love to get a digital copy for my computer. i have not perfected the cassette to computer transfer. is this possibly? suggestion box has remained one of my favorites and would love to hear the lunch i never had on my ipod itunes should really expand to all music. allutep5000"-- allutep5000 (on 08/15/10 23:40:49)

to Joseph Benzola... "Hey there Joe, not sure about you, but I started off as a "home-taper, cassette underground" guy way back in the early 80's, so it's kind of appropriately odd to wind up somehow there again at the other end of it. Okay, hope you're well enough and just wanted to say that your new CD's a real earful buffet, and it's an honor for me to belly-up to that bar my friend. So work the work, don't lose the faith, and keep your ears attached to your hands just in case your muse is on the loose your comrade, daniel"-- danstearns (on 07/23/10 22:46:51)

to Daniel Prendiville... "Check out some of Daniel's recent releases on iTunes!"-- homemademusic (on 01/02/10 00:35:03)

Bryan Baker
Like others with a passion for recording, Bryan Baker began recording at a young age using whatever sounds could be found. He was making recordings with his portable reel-to-reel recorder at age 9. TV shows, football games, making up stories with neighborhood friends. The bug never let go. He got hold of his first multitrack in college and had his first studio going with bass, drumatix drum machine, Casio and guitars borrowed from his brother. The tools are better now, but still very moderate, occupying the small room in his two-bedroom apartment at present.

STEREO ASSASSIN
Man Made, Machine Driven

Stegor
Stegor is the solo project of Greg Mathieson, longtime member of Bat Lenny.

Lords of Howling
The Lords of Howling live mostly in Questa, New Mexico, where they play music 20 hours a day and write songs the other 4. At present there are probably 10 different cassettes* of their music available by mail from them. Some of this band are an offshoot of the legendary San Francisco band, the Whitefronts.

Ray Carmen & Ken Clinger
Both Ray and Ken are well known in homemade music circles with a large body of work of their own, both solo and in collaboration with others.

Love, Calvin
Love, Calvin (Scott Johnson) is one of my favorite hometaping artists. Johnson's songs (whose style captures punk's intensity while possessing subtlety, immediate melodies and hooks) all have a truly unique perspective that will remind you of other songwriters with truly unique prospectives. Syd Barrett comes to mind but that's too easy. Love, Calvin has a tremendous body of work, with each tape having a personality. You've heard of musicians describing their albums like they were their living, breathing children. Love, Calvin's tapes are like that to me, even though I didn't create them. I hear them and they become like my own.

Don Campau
Born in 1952, Campau began recording in 1969 with the cult Bay Area avant garde group, The Roots Of Madness. The Roots recorded an LP in 1971 and many open reel tapes as albums now re-issued on CDR. In 1976, he started 4 track recording with his friend, Greg Gray and later went on to form The Desmonds, a punk band, with Greg and Joe Menichetti In 1981, he got his own 4 track and has been cranking out the home recordings ever since. Many dozens of albums are available at www.doncampau.com.

Dino DiMuro
Dino DiMuro has been playing and recording music since age 10, and has released over 25 self-produced cassettes and CDs since 1983. Dino's music has been described as "Zappa-esque," "precise and infectious," and something akin to a "Walt Disney on acid" experience. Dino was born and raised in Hollywood, California and became a "tape fanatic" at age 8. Musically he learned 5-string banjo, guitar, and bongos as a member of his first recording group, BERTH, from 1970 to '79. Venturing solo for the first time in '76, he eventually purchased the tape deck of his dreams: the Teac 3440 4-track reel to reel on which he records to this day. The first 4-track tapes were released between 1983 and '85, which was also the year Dino became aware of the Home Taping Underground.
