At Home Made 2025, DRKMBNT (Wolfgang Dorninger) arrived with a black suitcase loaded with three distinct live setups. Inside were five players from the Tiny Techno Orchestra on the top left, a deadBatteryMusic configuration on the right, and below them an array of FlipFloater instruments and effects: Benjolin V1-2, Drone Slider, Ugly Face distortion, FlipFloater Delay, a resonator, Ralf Schreiber’s Starvation Synth, Uwe Schüler’s Chaosz Oszi, and Noisio’s Levitation Oscillator.
Claude Winterberg (FlipFloater) brought along his Power Mixer and 6-channel Inline Mixer, designed for his own live work. After a soldering session and some assembly help from Uwe Schüler, DRKMBNT shaped everything into a compact, playable system. The mix of chaotic oscillators, pad synths, and hand-built effects formed a performance rig ready for immediate use.
On August 8, DRKMBNT played a 20-minute concert from the suitcase. The first part with deadBatteryMusic revolved around low-voltage oscillators, “starved” toward silence. The second with the Tiny Techno Orchestra used photovoltaic cells generating up to three volts before pulling the sound back down again. Starvation, light, and fragile power became compositional tools.
The performance revealed a balance between raw experiment and careful structure, turning instability into music. A video recording is expected soon.
DRKMBNT left a note of gratitude for the Home Made community: “I should have come much earlier.”
